Position: Senior Chiller Technician

Location: Worcester, MA
Employment Type: Full-Time (with overtime and weekend opportunities)
Pay Rate: $35 – $56 per hour

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Chiller Technician to play a lead role in maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting their HVAC rental fleet, with a focus on large tonnage air conditioning systems and chillers.

This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and mentorship, supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. The Senior Chiller Technician will serve as a key resource for complex equipment diagnostics, technical innovation, and team development across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technician for large tonnage air conditioning systems and chillers, overseeing troubleshooting, pre-deployment testing, and on-site repair services.
  • Lead and support special projects, including research into obsolete replacement parts and evaluating refrigeration conversion options for legacy equipment.
  • Act as a technical point of contact during the transition to remote monitoring systems across the rental fleet.
  • Mentor, train, and support Chiller and Service Technicians across branches and depots, promoting skill development and teamwork.
  • Provide technical expertise and operational support for the Turnkey program, assisting with chiller and large air conditioning rental installations.
  • Perform additional assigned duties, demonstrating flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to organizational success.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in HVAC, Refrigeration, or related field; or equivalent hands-on experience (5–7 years) with large tonnage HVAC and chiller systems.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex HVAC systems and chillers, with advanced knowledge of system applications.
  • Universal EPA Certification required.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience training and developing technicians.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems; experience with data entry, reporting, and equipment management.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable using technology, including order-entry systems, internet navigation, and email communications.
  • Preferred:
    • 1–2 years of purchasing or supply chain experience.
    • Prior work in a manufacturing or service operations environment.

Licensing & Physical Requirements

  • Must pass a DOT physical and drug test to operate company vehicles.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR required.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Physical ability to safely lift/move up to 50 lbs.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position with overtime opportunities.
  • May require participation in a rotating on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak seasons.
