Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer (Injection Molding) to lead quality assurance efforts and ensure the production of high-quality plastic components. This role is responsible for developing and implementing quality systems, leading inspections and testing processes, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in plastics manufacturing quality standards, inspection methodologies, and team leadership within a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain quality plans, including contract reviews and product launch support
  • Provide timely communication and delivery of test reports to customers
  • Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Develop and control inspection plans for molding and secondary operations
  • Support and enforce compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems
  • Program and utilize inspection equipment including:
    • CMM (PC-DMIS)
    • Micro-Vu systems
    • Optical comparators
    • Hand-held measuring tools
  • Perform and support quality testing and validation activities
  • Lead, train, and mentor quality team members
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure quality standards are met
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve process performance

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or related field

Experience:

  • Proven experience in quality engineering within plastics injection molding environments
  • Experience with:
    • First Article Inspection (FAI)
    • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Experience programming and operating CMM using PC-DMIS
  • Experience with inspection equipment and measurement systems

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of quality systems and standards (ISO 9001:2015)
  • Proficiency with measurement tools and inspection technologies
  • Knowledge of molding processes, materials, and production environments
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and maneuvering
  • Ability to work in a loud manufacturing environment
